Cellulite is a popular term to describe fat deposits under the skin. Cellulite is thought to occur in 80-90% of post-pubertal females. It is characterized by a dimpled or orange-peel appearance due to structural changes underneath the skin’s top layer. Cellulite is perfectly normal and a harmless condition. However, it is a cosmetic concern to many people. The most common causes of cellulite are: genetics, hormone changes, diet, predisposing factors, and lifestyle.
Treatment of cellulite is only possible through advanced technological and dermatological expertise. At Lucia Aesthetic and Dermatology Center, we individualize our treatments to the standards of the latest international technological developments.
The different treatment strategies we use are:
- Thermage MRF (Monopolar Radio Frequency),
- Viora (Bipolar Radio Frequency),
- Mesotherapy cocktails,
- Needle free mesotherapy
- Combination of treatments.
Mesotherapy is a non-surgical, non-invasive injection therapy used successfully in treatments for cellulite reduction, weight loss, face and neck rejuvenation and body sculpting. Mesotherapy is a safe technique using FDA approved pharmacological agents, homeopathic formulas and natural plant extracts. Mesotherapy is a procedure used for weight loss and body sculpting to reduce, eliminate and contour specific undesired fat pockets. This method targets the receptors on fat cells that produce lipogenesis (fat production) and lipolysis (fat breakdown). Receptors that break down fat are known as beta receptors; those that create fat are alpha receptors. Alpha receptors are stimulated to produce fat when you ingest food containing carbohydrates, fat, amino acids, hormones or alcohol.
A medical history and physical examination is required prior to receiving treatment for weight loss and body sculpting. Based on individual requirements, the medical doctor selects a formula consisting of several medications that block alpha receptors and stimulate the beta receptors. Once injected into the skin, the formula slowly diffuses into the fat, and breaks it down. The most common side effect from mesotherapy treatment is minimal bruising from the injections. The number of weight loss and body sculpting treatments required varies from person to person.
