INNOVATIVE FACE AND BODY CONTOURING TREATMENT

PDO COG thread lift procedure is a brilliant aesthetic method for firming and lifting saggy skin. It is also very effective in re-defining facial contours. This procedure is an excellent alternative to surgical lift because it is much less invasive. It achieves great results without a long recovery period, pain or surgery risks. It involves inserting fine threads and pulling the skin to make it tighter and smoother. The procedure triggers the body’s natural healing processes and eventually brings to skin rejuvenation. It also boosts collagen production, an important protein, that supports the skin and lifts it.

How It Works

WHAT CAN THREAD LIFT THERAPY ADDRESS?

As the skin gets more and more mature, it loses its connective tissues or more precisely collagen and elastin. These important proteins serve as building blocks that keep the skin nicely structured and firmed. But, as they start to diminish the skin loses its elasticity, starts to sag and develops wrinkles and fine lines.

The inserted threads form a support structure underneath the skin because of the collagen formation.

This procedure can be used for different facial areas including:

  • Mouth to the nose or Nasolabial folds
  • Sagging skin around the mouth or Marionette lines
  • Forehead or Brow Lift
  • Cheeks
  • Jawline
  • Jowls
  • Neck

PDO COG threads firm facial contours, lift saggy skin and make the jawline slimmer.

BENEFITS OF THREAD LIFT PROCEDURE

The biggest advantage of this treatment is that it provides immediate and long-term results. The patient can see the effects of lifting right after the procedure but more lifting is noticeable over time when the collagen is produced.

The treatment is very powerful because it triggers cellular regeneration and skin rejuvenation with the help of the body’s own healing processes.

Once the threads are inserted, they lift the skin immediately, make the jawline slimmer and contour the facial features. Moreover, this treatment improves the skin texture with neovascularisation.

This non-surgical facelift is an effective way to tighten the patient’s skin. It is only minimally invasive and doesn’t require a long recovery period.

Once the support structure for the skin is formed with the threads and natural collagen is produced the effects can last for up to two years.

    FREQUENT QUESTIONS

    • WHO IS A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR THREAD LIFT THERAPY?

The best candidates for this procedure are men and women generally aged 45+, who shy away from a surgical facelift or can’t undergo surgery because of different medical conditions. At this age, the patients are starting to get fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead and their skin on the brows, lower face and neck is beginning to get loose. This treatment is perfect for patients who are noticing these changes in their skin firmness and have mild to moderate skin sagging.

    • WHO SHOULD AVOID THREAD LIFT THERAPY?

The treatment is not suitable for pregnant or breastfeeding ladies. Also, it is not recommended for patients who have skin inflammation or active acne, are prone to the formation of keloid scars or have cold sores. Patients who have an auto-immune disease or bleeding disorders, take anticoagulant medications, are allergic to Lidocaine or PDV threads shouldn’t undergo this procedure.

    • HOW DOES THREAD LIFT THERAPY WORK?

PDO threads come in two types:

      ● PDO threads with barbs. These are strong threads and capable of strong lifting. They hook the threads underneath the patient’s skin and create a supportive structure that actually lifts the patient’s skin. They are best used in the jawline and cheeks because they immediately result in skin lifting and firming and enhance facial contours. Over time, collagen starts to produce around the threads and barbs which adds volume and rejuvenates the patient’s skin. Generally, 4 to 8 threads are needed on each side of the face.

      ● PDO without barbs. These threads are very fine and have a smaller capacity for lifting. They are perfect for skin rejuvenation and firming and not so much for skin lifting.

Both types of PDO threads are made of Polydioxanone, a very safe material that has been used in heart surgery, orthopedics, plastic surgery and tissues cohesion. They are completely biodegradable and absorbable by the body and hardly ever cause allergies or adverse reactions. Polydioxanone stimulates collagen production which helps the skin become more elastic and firmer. The PDO threads resolve after 6 months and their effect is visible for a couple of years after that.

    • WHAT DOES THE THREAD LIFT THERAPY LOOK LIKE?

When the patient arrives at Lucia Clinic, first he/she is consulted with Lucia’s doctor who examines the patient’s skin and determines if this treatment is suitable for his/her skin issues. The patient should inform the therapist about the previous medical history and if he/she is currently taking any medications. Then the doctor creates the customized treatment plan that will address the patient’s specific needs and meet his/her expectations from the treatment.

    • BEFORE THE TREATMENT

The patient should avoid wearing makeup prior to the treatment to lower the risk of infection. Also, the patient is advised not to take any anti-inflammatory medications like aspirin or ibuprofen to reduce the risk of excessive bleeding or bruising.

    • THE THREAD LIFT PROCEDURE

Before the treatment, the patient’s skin is numbed with topical cream and then injected with local anesthesia to reduce the discomfort. The doctor determines which areas will be treated and how many threads are necessary for the best outcomes.

The doctor carefully cleans the patient’s skin and then makes a very small incision through which a blunt cannula is inserted.

After that, the PDO threads are inserted through the cannula under the skin or more precisely into the sub-dermis. Cannulas are used in this treatment because they don’t harm the blood vessels and don’t cause as much bruising as needles might do. After the threads are placed correctly, the specialist removes the cannula. When these fine threads are inserted, the doctor lifts them upwards and thus lifts the patient’s skin. This way the patient’s skin is immediately firmer and smoother.

Shortly after the treatment is over, the patient can go home.

The threads add even more firmness to the skin as they stimulate the production of collagen. The patient’s skin is visibly younger-looking, more elastic and tighter.

The treatment is quite fast and can be finished in 30 or 60 minutes.

    • WHAT ARE THE POSSIBLE THREAD LIFT SIDE EFFECTS?

Even though PDO threads therapy is a very safe procedure there are some possible side effects that may occur.

After the treatment, the patient’s face might feel sore and appear slightly swollen for about a week. Also, the patient may experience slight bruising, redness and tenderness.

Some more serious side effects are rare and they include infection, shifting of the threads, pain, asymmetry, allergic reaction to PDO threads or to the anesthesia. There could also appear some pigment changes so it is advised to avoid direct sun exposure for a couple of weeks after the treatment.

The treatment downtime can vary because every patient is different. Some patients can resume their daily activities right away and fully recover in 2 to 3 days, while others may need more time.

    • WHAT IS PDO THREAD LIFT PROCEDURE AFTERCARE?

The patient’s face feels the most tender and tight for the first 24 hours and then the feeling reduces during the first week. The discomfort can be reduced by applying ice packs to the treated area. The patient should avoid taking blood thinners to reduce the pain. If it is necessary paracetamol is the best to relieve the discomfort.

Makeup and other cosmetic creams should be avoided for the first 24 hours. The patient should sleep on his/her back on a soft pillow for a week after the treatment. Also, it is not recommended to shower, wash or touch the face for 24 hours. The patient should avoid strenuous exercises or saunas for the first 5 days.

Also, it is very important that the patient avoids opening his/her mouth too wide or having any types of massages in the treated area. Diet should be also adjusted - the patient should eat softer food for a week post-treatment.

    • HOW LONG DO THE RESULTS LAST?

The best results are visible 3 to 6 months post-treatment when the new collagen has been produced and the skin is lifted and firmed to the fullest. After that, the threads get absorbed by the body and the effects of the treatment can be visible for up to 2 years. It all depends on the patient’s lifestyle and skin quality. After that, the patient can have touch-up treatments to maintain the results.

    • CAN THREAD LIFT PROCEDURE BE COMBINED WITH OTHER AESTHETIC PROCEDURES?

Thread lift therapy can be used as a standalone treatment or it can safely be combined with different procedures for even better results. It can be used alongside PRP, chemical peels, Microneedling, Fractional laser or Radio Frequency therapy. The treatment is also ideal to combine with Botox, Sculptra or other fillers because Polydioxonone doesn’t interact with Hyaluronic Acid.
